Edward Buckland, PKF Francis Clark, Cornish Mutual, Barclays and Coodes held the fourth annual Cornish Supper and Grand Charity Auction in aid of the Farming Help charities on Friday 9th June in the Cornish Mutual marquee at the Royal Cornwall Show.
More than 350 people attended an evening of lively bidding for the 70 lots on offer which, combined with additional funding, games and raffle on the night resulted in a record breaking total of £13,526.70 raised.
This money will provide vital funds to the farming help charities being Addington Fund, Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution and the Farming Community Network which provide crucial help to the farming community and to businesses and individuals who need it most when other opportunities have been exhausted.
Edward Buckland of Edward Buckland Ltd Chartered Surveyors, Auctioneers and Land Agents, commented: We are simply humbled by the unstoppable generosity of the individuals and businesses who donate to this event and to everyone who takes part.
“This year more than 70 lots were put under the gavel of myself and Robbie North with many lots exceeding the ambitious guide prices.”
“This is tantamount to the generosity of the individuals at the event and the worthwhile causes for which the event was held.”
Brian Harvey, Head of Agriculture at PKF Francis Clark, said: “The event has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2014. In aggregate almost £40,000 has been raised over the four years for such worthwhile charities and we are delighted to have been involved from the start.”
During the evening guests were also entertained by the Boscastle Buoys, who following their grand tour of the Royal Cornwall Show on the Friday, sang several rousing songs enjoyed by all.
